Harald Holmgren, age 40, discovers pegmatite rock on the forest floor while hunting. With the help of 3 other workers, Harold begins mining the area. Numerous minerals are discovered in the forest, marking the beginning of one of Sweden’s most mineral-rich sites.

Recognizing the scale of the find and the growing costs, Harald sells the mine to local mining company, Boliden AB. Boliden scales up mining operations, and continues for another decade.

Boliden ceases operations in Varuträsk in 1947 due to post-WWII economic shift, lack of demand, and its inability to produce on a large scale. Metal demand patterns change causing Boliden to increase investments toward other mines. Varuträsk was special for its variability, but wasn't a feasible long term investment.

With the mine dormant, snowmelt and rainwater flood the underground tunnels. The Varuträsk mine becomes inaccessible and nearly lost to history. In the 80's, several geological surveys were conducted to re-evaluate the mines potential value. Although the area proves to be of high scientific value, it was again concluded there was a lack of commercial profit.

The dormant mine is purchased by the Varuträsk commune. Water is pumped out, the mine is repaired, and it is rebuilt with modern safety standards. The site becomes a historical museum accessible for visitors to tour.

The property is purchased and re-named "Skellefteå Adventurepark".

The property is expanded, the forest restored, the high ropes course is built, and the area becomes the center for outdoor activities as we know it today.

Säkerhetsinformation

Säkerhetssystemet är professionellt utformat och byggt enligt de senaste EU-standarderna. Alla banor inspekteras noggrant före öppning, granskas årligen av Kiwa (ackrediterat av Swedac) och kontrolleras dagligen av vår utbildade personal. Även träden inspekteras regelbundet. All klätterutrustning är testad och godkänd enligt strikta branschstandarder och kontrolleras före varje användning.

Alla deltagare får en obligatorisk säkerhetsgenomgång av utbildad instruktör och måste genomföra en kort introduktionsbana för att visa att säkerhetssystemet förstås.

Barn under 12 år måste klättra tillsammans med en betalande, aktiv vuxen som ansvarar för tillsynen. En vuxen får ansvara för max två barn.

Säkerhetsreglerna är obligatoriska för alla klättrare och måste läsas och godkännas före deltagande.

Banskarta

Banområdet täcker cirka 7 hektar skog.

9 banor är utspridda i området, med korta promenader mellan startpunkterna.

Banornas höjd varierar mellan 1 och 12 meter.

Varje bana består av 3 - 8 hinder.

Svårighetsgraden varierar från en enkel introduktionsbana till utmanande hinder på 12 meters höjd. Om ett hinder känns för svårt kan du luta dig tillbaka i selen och ta dig över på ett säkert sätt, så att alla deltagare kan fullfölja banan.

Terms & Conditions

These terms & conditions apply to all bookings, visitors, and participants at Skellefteå Adventurepark. By making a reservation, entering the park, or taking part in any activity, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted the following.

Booking & Payment

All reservations must be made through our booking system or approved sales channels.

Full payment is required to confirm a booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.

A booking confirmation (digital or printed) may be required on arrival.

Prices, schedules, and availability may change prior to confirmed booking.

Participants arriving late or missing required safety briefings may lose their place in the activity without refund.

Participant Responsibility

For the safety of all guests:

All participants must follow staff instructions and safety rules at all times.
Participation is not permitted while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Smoking or use of open flames near equipment or activity areas is strictly prohibited.
Participants must ensure they are physically and medically fit for the activity.
- This includes conditions such as pregnancy, epilepsy, heart conditions, or previous injuries.
- Participation occurs at the individual’s own judgment and risk.

Minors:

Children and minors must be supervised by a responsible adult where required.
A parent or legal guardian must approve participation and sign any required waiver or consent form.

Behavior:

We reserve the right to:
- refuse entry
- stop participation
- remove any guest behaving unsafely or inappropriately
Removal for rule violations or unsafe behavior will occur without refund.
Participants may be held responsible for damage to equipment, facilities, or property caused by negligence or misconduct.

Cancellation & Refunds

Activities (paid online): Full refund when cancelled at least 24 hours before scheduled start time.
Activities (group reservation): Full refund when cancelled at least 7 days before the booked date.
Food & Dining: Full refund when cancelled at least 14 days before the booked date.
Conference & Facility Reservations: Full refund when cancelled at least 14 days before the reservation date.
Late cancellations, no-shows, or unused services are non-refundable.

Customer Cancellations

Cancellation by Skellefteå Adventurepark

We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule, or modify bookings due to:

weather or environmental conditions
safety concerns
insufficient participant numbers
technical or operational issues
events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure)

In such cases, customers will be offered:

a full refund, or
the option to rebook for another available date.

No additional compensation is provided beyond the booking value.

Privacy

Personal data is collected only as necessary to manage bookings, safety requirements, and customer communication.

Information is processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the EU General Data Protection Registration (GDPR).

Personal data is not sold to third parties.

Customers may request access, correction, or deletion of their personal data by contacting us.

Liability

Our activities involve inherent and unavoidable risks.

Participation is undertaken voluntarily and at the participant’s own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Skellefteå Adventurepark is not liable for:
- injuries resulting from failure to follow instructions or safety rules
- personal medical conditions affecting participation
- loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings
- indirect or consequential losses
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where exclusion is not permitted under applicable law.

Guests are responsible for having appropriate personal insurance where desired.
